Howover Mamewah and MultiFE (in realtime) have software rotation as well.

Just because a frontend is discontinued does not mean that it is a bad frontend.
Either there is no more need to update it, or the author just left the project.
Discontinued frontends are still used in cabinets today, and most run on both older and newer machines, though some may have some issues with newer versions of MAME.
So check these out as well.

Cosam:

Cabrio is an animated graphical front end, designed for use in cabinets but also usable on your PC. This project is still in development, but already includes the following features:

* Animated game selector
* Optional filtering on genre or platform
* Setup utility to configure controls (keyboard, joystick or mouse)
* Screen rotation/flipping

Future released will also include:

* Interface customisation/skinning
* Game list generation
* More filtering possibilities

Cabrio it is written using SDL and OpenGL and, although the front end currently only runs on Linux, a Windows release should be available in the future. The project is made available under the GNU General Public License, meaning anyone can freely download the source code and even contribute to development.
