This is the 4-player cabinet I built for kicks early in 2003. The cabinet was built entirely from scratch, and so was the firmware to interface the controls to the PC. The controls include 4 8-way sticks (soon to be replaced with leaf-switch sticks), a 4-way wico leaf-switch stick (well, made 4-way by machining a restrictor plate of sorts), a pair of trackballs for that marble madness urge, and a spinner for the obligatory game of tron.. and of course coin doors! To make things a bit more interesting, I'm in the process of modularizing my control panel so it can easily be swapped out and replaced with others -- like a race-car type panel, a star-wars style yoke panel, and whatever else creeps in there. I plan on doing this by leaving my interface hardware and firmware on the cabinet-side and mounting a 96-pin connector (or something similar) that future panels can connect to and be recognized by the firmware in the cabinet. That's about it for now.. just thought I should join the club and post my site.
