A multimeter is a device that measures voltage, current and resistance between two points in a circuit. It is an indispensible tool when building a control panel as it will allow you to test your wiring connections as you go. There are many different models available and some have optional features, but there are essentially two kinds of multimeter, digital or analog. Whichever kind you buy, make sure it has a continuity function as this will allow you to test whether two points are electrically connected.
